The reason why I ask ... One way for a would-be thief to overcome your alarm is to use a strong magnet. If they know where your siren is, they can use the magnet to prevent the siren from going off and then pop open your doors. A siren is just a speaker -- it makes sound by movement of the diaphragm. If there is something preventing movement of the diaphragm (such as a stronger magnet), there is nothing the siren can do to alert you. They have time to go into the car and cut wires (like the signal to your siren), and you wouldn't know the alarm has been triggered. Don't ask how I know, but just I know.
